i have the intake manifold off of my 1995 540i/a. i was thinking of upgrading my injectors. is it worth the expense??? i already installed an e.a.t. chip. how much oil is normal to have in the intake manifold of the 4.0 w/180,000. should i be worried.
thanks

On my 535, I got a smoother idle and perhaps a little "brighter" response off idle and into the mid-range. I would not put this into an upgrade category but rather a maintenance issue for higher mileage and older technology engines. I put Ford #19 injectors in to replace the factory original injectors. The pintles have 4 small holes versus one hole in the original. They supposedly flow within 2-3% of factory but have the ability to flow more than factory under higher pressure (another issue). At 180k, it might be a good idea to replace the injectors. If you do this, you should go ahead and replace the profile gaskets for the intake and the valve cover gaskets while you are in there. These gaskets cause a lot of vacuum leaks (intake) and oil leaks (valve cover). Oil leaks cause the coils to go south. Once in a while all v8 owners should have a look down by the coils/spark plugs to make sure they are dry and not sitting in a pool of oil.
