do you know the bolt pattern, offset, size, or model number of the m3 wheels?

No. Wrong offset, need spacers that are too wide to be safe.

usually the wheels off of a 3/Z3/Z4/X3/X5 DO NOT mount directly on to any 5/6/7/8/Z8 BMW (without spacers etc)...BUT some of the M3 wheels are an exception (e30 & e46 M3s)

If you go to the online parts database...you can get the BMW part nbr so that you can verify which wheels you are looking at and what their offset is.

What you can mount onto your e34 is:
5x120 wheel bolt pattern
11mm thru 28mm (wheel offset range)
72.56mm wheel hub diameter (e39 5 series is one of the very few oddball BMWs...it has a 74.1mm wheel hub (hub centric rings are required to mount them on other 5/6/7/8/Z8 models)

The e30 & e46 M3 both have a few staggered wheel set ups where the REAR wheels have an offset below 28mm...which if they have the 5x120 wheel bolt pattern...you can mount them. BUT...the problem is that the front wheels have an offset aroung 45mm (which is too high). To make this work, you would have to get 2 sets of rear wheels.

Here's a link to the e46 wheel diagrams...find the wheels which are for sale, then check what the offset is...the wheel offset is written like this in the diagram "ET:47" which means this wheel has a 47mm wheel offset: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partgrp.do?model=BL93&mospid=47714&hg=36&fg=15
