Anybody installed aftermarket speakers in the rear of their E34s? I'm lookin at the factory speakers and dont know if I can just rip them out and replace them with 6's, or would they have to be 5's to fit? And do I need different wires? New amp? Anybody?!

5.25"s will fit no problem. 6.5 will take a little bit of creativity (not much I don't think). Depending on the wattage of the 5.25 you are putting in would, I think, determine if you need an amp. Your car should have an amp built in (as most of them do). I replaced the entire system and you can see it here:

The 5.25"s i put in do the job but can't handle the bass as well as I would like. 6.25"s would be ideal but they won't fit up front. It also could be that I didn't get high end speakers (which I couldn't afford).

If your speakers aren't getting enough juice, they will sound worse than the factory speakers.I say replace the whole system with quality speakers and amps. The most expensive part of my system was the deck at $179 and the install ($500 including box fabrication). People are amazed at how good my system sounds for as little as I invested ($1200 total including installation).

hope this helps.
