Well,
The family situation is forcing me to sell the 540/6 for <wince> a 4-door pickup truck. We need the room and I need the hauling capability (the other kind). For those of you who met at the last e34 meet on the farm near Raleigh - now is your chance to grab a 540 at a decent price!
Here is the link if you would like to take a lookie.

email me from there if you have any questions!

Wow, best of luck and sorry to see you're selling. Looks like a nice car for a good price. I'm sorry that I'm not in the market at the moment.

How long ago was it replaced?

If the price was just a tad better, this might be a better donor car for the touring than a S38 M5. Does this have the 90litre gas tank too? All US guages right? Don't need the wheels. hmmmmm

I've been driving it for 5 years and have never put in a clutch. I'm kind of a wussy driver - I sacrifice the brakes much more than the clutch with downshifting. She still pulls as hard as it did when I first got it though.
The P/O put in a clutch just before I bought it at about 69K.

Yes, the gauges are US, but I have no clue about the fuel capacity. I typically fill the tank with 93 every time and it usually swallows around 15-16 gallons - which corresponds to about 57-60litres...so maybe not.

Yea, I'm sorry I'm in the market too.
I see you're a corvair guy - I have my eyes on a 65 monza conv that has new paint and a gutted interior. I hope I can snag it. The same owner has a gold '69 95hp Powerglide with 2300 orig miles!

Jack,
I'm in Cary (live in holly springs) and I might be interested. Where do you live?

Cool! If you end up with the Corvair, let me know. I have a basement full of parts and access to several buildings full locally. We have a club here with about 20 members...fun cars! :)

By chance do you work in Regency? I passed a black 540, last week, that had a for sale sign in the window.

My wife and I were discussing the sale of your car this afternoon on our way to a 3-yr. old birthday party. We know Michael from when he had some water pump issues a few months back. We were in the Explorer, crossing highway 55 at the Olive Chapel/Hunter intersection, discussing Michael's car, and your 540, when what do I see in front of the fire station but Jack coming my way in the 540.

Too creepy. Car looked great, Jack!

Yea, very creepy...
I'll tell you what's creepy - you in an Explorer and not driving your bimmer! ;)
Yep - I was on my way to pick up my 2.5-yr. old from the daycare.
I had to get him some new shoes so he doesn't mark up my freshly cleaned interior!
BTW, she's still up for grabs...lots of lookieloos though.

We had our little tikes bouncy-house in the back to take to the b-day party. Too bulky to lift over into the trunk on the bimmers.

The bimmers get cleaned this weekend, FINALLY!!

Sounds like a twilight zone episode. You didn't end up in a black and white movie from 1955 did you? :D
