View Full Version : Delayed engaging when selecting into gears (Automatic)

Have noticed just very lately, that when it's especially hot there is almost a little hesitation when you shift into Reverse from Drive on the 540i.

One reliable source believes it might be a filter or fluid, any other ideas fellows?

FYI, transmission was rebuilt 50-60k miles ago.

low on fluid?
Mine did that around the same time I had reverse slippage.
BUT once that was fixed (rebuilt), it only did that right after starting it, for the first shift from D to R or back once or so. After a minute it was normal!

was it filled with the lifetime fluid when it was rebuilt?

Not seeing any such thing in the records of when the transmission was replaced at the end of 2002.
