When removing the cover for the plungers, make sure you remove it with the bottom plate. As shown here:

(left part removed with the plate). I just broke the electrical conections on mine. At least BMA gave me a very good deal on it with overnight shipping.

I didn't think the E34 HCV was rebuildable. I believe there's a kit for the E28 unit. Am I mistaken?

I shouldn't have used the word rebuilding, I meant cleaning the plungers with brasso and hopoing that they will not stick anymore.

P.S. While I have the aux water pump out of the car, any tests I can do to check if it works?
