View Full Version : Help! Spilled my coffee on my window switches

I pulled a bone head move this morning. I get up at 5:30am every morning (zombie mode) and I went to get coffee at Starbucks and the drive-thur lady did not secure the lid 100% and I set my drink on the shifter consol and I hit a bump and the entire drink dumped onto the window switch area. Now, none of the switches work, and the windows will not roll up or down. How hard is it to pull them out and inspect them? What should I look for? Any help is appreciated. :(

I'd suck it with a shop vac first then try to pry it out...gently.

Hazard comes out too.

There was a link/page the showed a guy taking them out with a thin flat blade screw driver.

Shoot them clean with a few squirts of contact cleaner and they should work.

Hopefully the GM is ok.

Might I suggest:

1. Coffee Maker
2. Coffee Grinder
3. Whole Coffee Beans (starbucks or trader joes)
4. Travel Mug
5. Cup Holder

The area you see with what looks liek "wear marks" is where the sliders sit.. the contacts get gunked. Simply clean.

Car is not for eating and drinking in!! I've had too many spillages of beverages in my E34, now even [insert misc. takeaway product here] aren't eaten in the vehicle.

One chick opened a bottle of champagne in the back seat... covered the seat, headlining, pass rear window and doorcard, and back of front passenger seat is the ****!! :(

In hindsight, I shoulda put the girl in bikinis, and made her clean it all!!! :D

Don't drink and drive...anything.

This is why there are no cupholders in the e34. It is not designed for eating and drinking...not the "Ultimate Dining Machine"...:p

I know, big help I am...:D

May I suggest... anything but Starbucks' coffee- except instant of course... pleugh, the stuff is acrid, spilt in the console or consumed. Many of their staff have NFI how to make coffee- indeed the taste makes me think their coffee maybe something stranger than all that- java beans aside I reckon its weirder than anything else I've tasted- maybe its GM beans... the only thing I know for sure is that they'll never open a shop in Italy with that ****.

A mate of mine brought pancake mix to a BBQ we were doing on the harbour. As I did my usual hard haul round a nippy corner it spiled out of his cling-wrapped bowl he was supposed to be looking after and went down the back seat. I cleaned it up just fine; it wasn't so hard as there was no sugar and no switches involved. Damn lucky it wasn't coffee... :) best of luck w the fix! :) Nick

Nick,
I have family in Vienna Austria. Coffee is a big part of the culture there. Anyway Starbucks opened a shop in the first district. It will warm your heart(and mine ) to know that it has failed. Perhaps though just from arrogance of the Viennese as my GF who lives here in US 20 yrs. and her mom currently visiting love the stuff.
Care to elaborate on your Executive for me?
