Gayles poll reminds me of a friendly competition between some friends and myself. We use a clyinder count instead of car count.Anything you can drive counts (like my 2 cylinder lawn tractor).A push mower, the weed wacker etc.does not count nor do disembodied engines.Non-running vehicles count but it's cheap points and frowned upon.
With five cars and the tractor I've 36.All run.

I recently had 40 cylinders but it was too much to maintain so I sold two 4's, now I am down to 32 and would like to get that reduced to 26.

Three cars...14 cylinders. I’m not the average American who needs to have a V8.. I actually like four cylinder cars… keeps me out of trouble.

As for myself I have a CI of about 23, so I am lacking a few cylinders according to the following...

There is a radio talk show Garage Logic, hosted by Joe Soucheray, on KSTP am 1500 in the Minneapolis-St.Paul area that often talks about the concept of the Cylinder Index (CI). It is also broadcast on the internet 2pm-5:30pm in the Central Time Zone here (http://www.am1500.com/garagelogic.htm).

From the website:
http://www.garagelogic.com/images/icalogo.gif
CYLINDER INDEX

The total number of internal combustion cylinders in your possession. Vehicles, gas powered equipment, marine & aviation all qualify.

If it is less than your age, move on to Euphoria.

More info on the CI:

6, but soon it will be only 1. Can't afford to keep the Bimmer, and it is a pity to have such a nice car just sitting in my driveway (haven't needed it in 2 months). Add to that the expense and risks of parking in town - great place for a University smack dab in the middle of the city - and the future plans of the greedy bastards at Shitty hall to charge people for driving into, out of, and through the inner city regardless of you income ($6 a day traffic charge plus parking costs, 5-6 days a week, kind of adds up for a student). So the Bimmer is being substituted for a 1 cylinder 50cc Sachs MadAss. I used the word substitute because as soon as I am back in Europe and working, I will be getting me another E34.
Please excuse me, I think I have something in my eye...

I have 10, unless you count my self-propelled mower ('cause ya don't push it) and then I have 11. I used to have 14 but I better now. Although if I had my way, I'd have 20 (21 with the mower). :D

38 cylinders in six cars. The 540 is not running yet with two V8's but will hopefully after this summer.

If there is a way to strap both on the car, I will. But neither is. The good one is on the stand. The bad one is on the floor in the garage. I haven't even separated the auto transmission from the bad engine yet although a potential buyer has his eyes on the transmission already.
