Hello to all this is my first time in this site and I really like what I see and read here that is why I decided to join in.I have a question if anyone tried this.My front springs from my 540i needs to be replaced.I have an old set of springs from my 93 525i same body that I'm thinking of using since I lowered my 525.My question is will the 540 get lowered since it's hevier than the 525?
or will it be just the same ride height? If anyone has an answer I appreciate your feedback.
Thanks:) :)

it will ride lower because as you say the 540 is heavier

Will I have a handling problem do you think?Just want to make sure this spring is not too soft for the car.
Thanks

Actually there is only a 30 pound difference between the steel block 6 cylinder engine and the aluminum block V8. H&R used to recommend the same lowering spring for both 525i and 540i so I think the difference would be negligible. That said, BMW lists different part numbers for the two applications so perhaps there is more to think about than just the weight handling capability.

I havent read where anyone has tried this, it is an interesting subject. The extra weight of the V8 tends to ride a bit low with lowering springs while the 6 cylinders sit perfect.

It just so happen that I kept my original spring from my 93 525i when I lowered it.I'm really debating if I'm going to use this stock springs because allot of people are saying that there is a weight difference between the 525 and the 540 even they have the same body that is because of the V8 vs the 6cyl.Someone posted it's only a 30lbs difference. If this springs will make the car lower that is good since I want to drop it alittle since I have 18"Parallel rims on it.Iim just worried how it would ride if its going to be bouncy or soft.I want to know if the springs on the 525 are as stiff as the stock 540?
Thanks again to all the replies.

this is going to be a trial and error sort of thing.

Well, have not put the 525 spring on 540, but have put 540 spring on 525. It raised the car up and the ride was very soft and nervous. And the bavauto springs, which about the same spring rate as stock, but same springs for the v8 and I6 cars, will not work with 540, too soft and crash over, bottom out every speed bump and pot holes on a 540, but seems to work ok on the 525. So, it may very well not work for you.

That's is what I worry about.I'm sure the Stock 540 spring are stiffer than the 525i.Well I'm not gonna do it I'll just get me a set of lowering H&r or Eibach anyone here have a spare?
