thing is it was apparently an m5 touring. rumor has it the owner was trying to FI it too.... sheesh. yeah, had to change the sig pic. Tracer Bullet ftw, though i think spaceman spiff is cooler.

Hey!!! Weren't ALL the M5s narrow grilles??

There were 3 series of E34 M5's, we only got 44 of the first series, and 1 of the second series here delivered by BMW OZ.

First Series: 3.6 litre 5 speed, narrow grille, 17" turbine wheels with 17" throwing stars (staggered) as an option
Second Series: 3.8 litre 5 speed, narrow grille, 17" throwing star wheels standard
Third Series: 3.8 litre 6 speed, wide grille, 18" M-Parallel wheels standard

Regards

John

there is only one grill that should be fitted to an E34 and that was the one it was designed with....
The W I D E grill makes the lovely e34 look like the ugliest BMW this side of a BAngle ie the e36

Monster it is! Even sounds like a monster at the moment too - thanks to a blown flexi-exhaust-pipe (where it comes from front manifold to downpipe) :(

And headlight washers are great pedestrian squirters! :D
They'd be even better if the previous owner hadn't busted the drivers side one, and lost one of the jets - now when the washer tank is full, it leaks, and looks like the car is pi$$ing itself :D

Bugger about exhaust and washers, if its not one thing its something else...

It was great chewing up and spitting out V8 with my 535i when I first bought it... I confused, and upset alot of the local lads!! :D ;)

Aye, for sure - still goes like f**k :D just sounds like a tractor! The washers are small-fry in comparison though!

Not wrong about there always being something to fix - yesterday i finally managed to find the time to get my rear door to work! yay! :D (Left rear door's been locked shut since I had the car - getting the door panel off with it shut = damn nightmare!)

Well... Thats enough votes I think, and the results are pretty clear!!

Those who like narrow grilles is only just higher in numbers than those who like wide grilles...

I will agree that the wide grille does indeed suit the 540i, but as Blitzkrieg Bob suggests, leave intact the grille your E34 was born with!!

Wide grill for sure. Ive read about alot of people wanting to swap for wide grill, never have i read about a wide swaping for narrow grill.

While the E34 was born with a narrow grill, it was also born with no airbags on either side, no kind of any interior trim, crappy interior door panels, no rear headrests, no leather on armrests, and a couple other tidbits. Obviously BMW wouldnt have put in wide grills if they didnt think it was improvement.
