i must admit its looks ok from the specs but its a bit pricey for 1989. i guess it depends on what has allready been done to it in terms of replacement bits and peices. it would be easy to spend a couple of grand if everything is ready to be replaced. I dont know the six/manual combo at all so would welcome all advice as i am remotely interested in this.

It only has 127,000kms. The 5 speed manual is always rare.

I think its okay. There one dude here - I'm thinking a mechanic who just bought a e34 535i and is doing the manual conversion. He says it will work out to be around 10k after the conversion.

Mattyb,

Your not seriously thinking ok getting rid of the 540 are you??

you could spend nearly the price of the M5 on 'tuning' a 540 to sharpen her up, the performance is comparable just seems to me the 540 has more 'luxury' and the 535's are more 'sport' :)
