Hello

I recently took my 525td on a longish drive and since have noticed a ticking sound from the front drivers side when I accelerate. It gets louder the hard i push the accelerator and stops when I release it. It seems to be proportional to the amount I press down. The car feels fine. Any Ideas?

They usually sound a bit metalic under load

Sounds like an exhaust leak by the manifold. The harder you press the gas, the more exhaust gasses are being spewed, and therefore the noise will increase as more tries to get out.

it happens to me too...

there is this annoying ticking when i start to step on the gas... and it gets louder as i push deeper...

i thought its only when i step on it... however when i opened up d hood... u can hear the ticking even if it is just revving...

checked my oil... it was lower than the max point by 0.5cm... very minimal right... but when i topped it up... the sound was gone...

might work for you, might not... but it worked for me... the ticking is now a signal for me to add more oil... (i think my oil pump is dying) hehehe
