The cooling system on my E34 535is has just gone pop, I thought it was the air con condenser leaking. As the coolent seems to leaking out in front of the rad....around the condenser? Is there pipework here or something?

Thanks

The cooling system and teh AC system are totaly separate systems. Most likely you just have a radiator leak. They usualy spring a leak at the gasket along the aluminum side tanks. You can tip the radiator rearward and see if maybe it corroded thruogh along the bottom where debris tends to gather.

Thanks but I knew that.

It looks like its leaking not from the rad but in front of that near the condenser as though there are pipes running around there....?

On the auto's, some had a cooler in that area, with a couple of hoses that ran to it. I think your car has the integral trans cooler if you have an auto.

Its probably just running along the core support and driping off so it looks like the condensor is leaking coolant.

You are right, just moved the rad and started it only to see it spraying a jet of coolent through the condenser. Thanks and sorry for being abit stupid.

One more question though-should the AC fan be on all the time the AC is on? Seems to come for a minute then cut out only to come back on or more so when the engine is revved. Cheers

The aux fan is switched by pressure from the AC system and engine temp. Normaly the fan will not cycle much in hot weather, but will if its warm.
