Found that I need either BOSCH F7LDCR or NGK BKR 6 EK plugs on RealOEM.com for the 540i; however, I am having trouble matching any of these to the store's part #s. Do these plugs have 2 or 4 electrodes?

If the store can't match up the number, go to another store, those are Botch and NGK part numbers, even my 11 year old son could match them up.

if you have a rough idle, try the NGK BKR6EQUP instead of the BKR6EK. they work wonders in the M60 sometimes (and were recommended in the TIS, too).

just don't let them talk you into bosch platinums, i refuse to work on a car with a running problem that has them, the f7ldcr copper plugs are good and the bkr6ek ngks are also good

Aero, I ran into this issue too. What I found is that most of the parts places don't use the actual manufacturer part numbers like they used to. It's not the art and science of the right part anymore as much as moving product. They go off "stock" numbers as their computers are directly linked to a supply chain/inventory control system. They sell you 6, the system automatically orders a replenishment on a daily basis.

Anyway, try these corresponding stock numbers and see if it helps:

2288 = BKR6EK
Description:
14mm, 3/4" reach, 5/8" hex, gasket seat, resistor, ISO length, projected tip, 2 ground electrodes

Or the suggested alternative:

3199 = BKR6EQUP
Description:
14mm, 3/4" reach, 5/8" hex, gasket seat, resistor, ISO length, projected tip, extra long life platinum, fine point platinum on center electrode, 4 ground electrodes

(Note, even though these are platnum, they are a projected tip, not like the Bosch Platinums that are flush with the ceramic insulation. So they shouldn't have the same fouling issue.)

Hope this helps.

John

I have a 94 540iA Sport. I used the NGK (Platinum) from NAPA; about 9$/ea. They are the 4 electrode type. Bosch that I removed were 2 electrode. Call the dealer, tell them what youve got, and they will give you the correct part #, then go to NAPA. Dealer byme wanted 16 + $ for a plug.

Jeff, got a URL? I was looking out there per your previous post and couldn't find them for less than $4.99. (BKR6EK) or $3.99 (Bosch OE #7402 ??)

Thanks!!

Hmmm, came up as invalid. Only asked for the URL because looking it up by the application comes up with the prices i posted earlier. Just trying to figure out how you priced the same parts as the same site at a cheaper price....

well they have gone um within the last 6 months, when I bought them they were 1.99 and now they look like 2.00 for the plats and 3.99 for the correct Bosch.
