Curious if anyone has replaced this on a 535i and how difficult it was?

Be gentle, the tank is often a little brittle.

Make sure the sensor is at the right postion, or you'll get all kinds of low washer level warnings when stop suddenly or up/down hills.

Make sure the sensor arm float is verticle when in place. It just floats on the water level. - Where did you buy the new one?

Haven't bought one yet, but https://www.autohausaz.com have them. I've placed 4 orders with them now and have been completely satisfied with their part availability, service, prices, and $0 shipping cost for orders > $50.00.

I've been getting a false "washer fluid level low" error off and on for some time now. I believe the sensor is upright, but is just not floating or maybe is corroded. I've been hesitant to remove it to see if it needs cleaning because most of the plastic under my hood is getting brittle with age. I might give it a try. That little bug is basically the only remaining annoyance I have left to solve.

I love my car, but that might be because I've had several margaritas this evening. A hobby, mistress, and recreational drug all rolled into one...

I was getting the warning alarm too. I just pulled mine out, cleaned up the float and the contact point and re-fitted. Watch out for the plastic surround on the electrical connection. They are getting brittle and tend to break up a bit.
Maragritas sounds good, I just started on some snapps to get warmed up for the ski season.
