My transmission is leaking at the drive shaft end.(Must have been over filled) It is dripping on the muffler. I\s this seal hard to replace? Does anyone have instructions on how to do it?

Thanks

If the tranny is overfilled, the oil goes out thru the vent hole at the rear till it is fine.
So maybe the leak is just temporary.
If the seal at the end of the trans is leaking, then you are lucky, because that is much easier to do compared with the seal at the front between engine and trans.
Go to my website below and look for Johan and Sean's E32 page, all described there in detail.

The transmission is leaking. Does this mean the seal could be bad, or just leaking form the vent? It is a 1991 525.

Cool, Ok ..Thanks man. I am putting it on a lift today. What can I look for to see If it is just the vent leaking?

Thanks

check the vent to see if theres any fluid there, if not, then its just the rear seal

you will have to look to see where the leak is at.
