Well I messed up. I'm pretty torn up about it inside, but I think everything will work out. I'm pretty sure I'm out of at least $1500, probably more. Its gonna be a dry summer for me.

Short recap: Wet road, I was going pretty quick (50ish), he was going about 20mph (limit was 50) I changed lanes, started stopping, slid, I pumped the brakes, plowed into his rear. He had no license insurance or anything, so he was pretty interested in leaving as soon as possible.

What do you guys think it'll cost? I know the body shop guy well, I can bma some of the stuff to avoid markup....What will it be.

that could be done in a driveway if you found the right color parts, the core support is a bolt in unlike a lot of cars that are welded or riveted

Your handle is a self-fulfilling prophecy! So sorry to see your car like that. You must be bruised from kicking yourself. Just prayer that the subframe isn't bent.

time to upgrade to wide grill and HIDs?

HID is an upgrade, wide grille is not.;)

Learn, fix and move on.

BTW, does your car have ABS? If so, why pump the brakes?

I think you picked the wrong user name to own an E34.

Good luck on the repairs though

that sux.. could be worse tho.. at least u hit him square on. with that kind of impact u are less likely to have frame damage which would alter the suspension geometry

hope u don't have to spend too much to fix it up

Well I didn't pump...per se. I wasn't sliding skidding or anything, I just couldn't stop in time. I was just in the ON SNAP its not stopping fast enough mode, so I let the pedal up and hit them down again. It happened so fast its a little fuzzy in my head. The road was wet.

that's not that bad as it looks. probably no frame damage.. it seams to me that u went "under" the guy in front of you ,resulting in an impact over the bumper, mostly hood and fenders. go to the breakers, get the parts, if you are lucky and find the right colour body panels it's a driveway job as winfred sayd. if not, a good paint shop can colour match everything but it's gonna cost more.
look at the bright side. if you hit him harder and anly with a corner of the car you could have been looking at frame damage+major cash.
good luck with the fix, and drive slower in the wet...
