I am choosing between 2 e34's. One is a 94 Vanos (TU) and the other is a 92 non-vanos but with a Dinan Chip for the engine and tranny as well as a Dinan Throttle Body. The 92 seems to be in better shape. I guess the question is how good are the vanos m50's compared to the older ones?

i like the power band of the non vanos motor better, it has that on the cam surge when you are on it from 3500 and up. the vanos motor is a little tamer with smaller cams and single valve springs, but it has knock sensors and the two step advance for the intake cam so it makes the same power stock, it's just a smoother power curve. basicly it's the same motor in terms of mantnance and lifespan
