View Full Version : cleaning the headlight reflectors

There is an old posting from Max Fretter (website on my page) how to clean the glasses inside and the reflectors.
Here is one from the E30 club Hamburg in Germany. The headlights from the E30 are similar to E34 and E32.
They do it different, wash them in warm water with dishwasher detergent. That is said to be better than touching the thin plastic reflectors where the chrome is just 'sprayed on'.
I have read that procedure now several times and it seems to be the best. Although the instructions are in German, the pics explain it all.

Looks like regular dishwashing liquid. The stuff you use when hand-washing dishes. The stuff used in automatic dishwashers is really quite nasty. You have a lot less chance of damaging your reflectors if you used the hand washing stuff.

I did this myself a while ago on one set of my e34's headlights... seems to have done a pretty good job.

Jet Dry... glass dishwasher agent. Not dish soap. 2 drops per headlight is all you need.
