Hi, This is a problem that is doing my nut in. :(
When I lock my E36 325i ( J reg 91' ) with the key, all the locks open again after half a second. Even if you push the inside button down it pops up again.
The only way I can lock the car is to open the drivers door, hold the button down as the other doors lock then unlock. Then manually lock all the other doors.
I have changed door motors and centrol locking control boxes. :(
The killer thing is the fault is intermitent. I have stripped door just to find the locks start working. Then after driving home the problem is back.
I think I have traced the fault to the wiring to rear lock on the boot.
i.e. my boot lock isn't getin the signal to lock. When the locks work I can short across two wires on the rear lock which then locks the other doors. At the moment this does nothing.
Could someone please tell me if I'm on the right path ! :D

boot lid: check the wire loom which goes from the boot lid into the cabin. That is a well known problem on E34, and then the central locking als plays funny. Wires break there due to frequent movement.
