problem with my new 1995 540i???

I just bought a 1995 540i, and two days after I got it the check engine light came on. The car drives great normally, except when I start the car when the engine is hot, its like the gas pedal doesn't work when I press it.
After about 20 seconds and several throttle presses later it kicks in and drives normal again. Anyone have an idea of what this is?

Does it have ASC? ASC and the cruise control have the ability to manipulate the throttle, maybe there's an issue there.
