alarming noise and no gas, temp, readout guage

The car was running fine --next day went to start it and the alarm sound stayed on and no guages for temp, gas, readout occured. Tried new battery in key, just replaced brake switch which I had problems with. NOW this!!!!!
1989 525i with 170,000 miles and in real good condition.
NEED help and advice.

I would start by disconnecting the alarm and seeing if thats the problem.

It could be a faulty or low battery?
