any response is apreciated.

MIght ask Tirerack. However, IMO, I would say no as I suspect the 20 inch wheels with tires would be of larger diameter than stock wheels and require the car to be raised for clearance, not to mention speedometer errors. Just an opinion.

As an opinion, I wouldn't go that big. 18s seem to be the best on these cars. :)

20"s?!! What's wrong with you?
20"s are for nancie boys. 24"s are where it's at!!
No... 26"s.... NO!!... 28"s.... NOOO!!!... 30"s..... any advance on 30"s....?????!!!!!!... NOOOO!!!!..... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRGHHHH!!!! :D

17"s for sting, 18"s for bling. 20"s are idiots.

Would look tough...
I nearly went 20s on mine. Except they were $7000AUD!!!

20s will be too big and a pain in the arse. You'll be forever buckling them (Dont care how good you are at dodging potholes...I fitted 18s and I still managed to buckle them!!) Unless the E34 is a show-goer, and not daily driver of course.

Remember too that 20s will throw the balance of the car out, and believe it or not, the suspension "doesn't like" wheels bigger than 18s. It gets all weirded out...

My .02c worth??

Spend time finding the perfect set of 18s!!. I reckon the HM2 Hamann rims are ****-hot, and look damn sexy on an E34!! They command attention without making the E34 look too blinged-out. Remember, these cars are getting old, and brand-spanking styled rims look out-of-place with the 90's styling.

Do they sell 40 inch wagon wheels? They say it'll make the car go faster. A little bumpy but well worth it. Chic's love wagon wheels. Next I'm looking at retrofitting a firehose to the trunk. Never know when a clown might be nearby.

thats a pretty sick 535,

i really want some 20 inch 100spoke rims like daytons.

i hope i can work it out.

Nick.Hay

It will look mad as on wires!! ;)

But fu.k it'll cause drivability nightmares.

My suggestion would be go to the tyre shop and see if they'll order just ONE rim in for you to try the fit (remember too that E34s are a weird, unique offset, so they may not actually make them to fit the E34)...

You can fit 19" wheels no problem.
The ride quality WILL suffer.
the e34 (M5) was offered with 18" rims stock,
so 19" isn`t too big. (although many conservatives here will
disagree)
Make sure your offsets are close to original though.
et20 front et20 rear. Be ready to spend some $$$$
And if you really have to have 20s... GO FOR IT:)

20s will look retarded, especially Dayton 20". Sell the BMW, buy an '80s Impala or similarly crappy car, pimp to your heart's content. Plus it will ride like crap, and you'll destroy your suspension bushings and ball joints. Some new cars can pull off 20s without looking ghetto, not the E34.

seen 20"s on a 92 525 besides looking like ass it had the death wobble from hell with all of that extra mass, plus it rubbed everywhere including the spring perches which had machined the inner tread blocks off the front tires

20's are too big for e34's and if you do put them on all the chicks you try to pick up will think you are trying to overcompensate for a small penis. :p

But those are from an e38. I guess the later euro m5's did come with some m-pars though.

If you are seriously thinking of putting 20's on your E34, sell it now and get yourself a Honda or escalade. 20" rims will ghetto up your car and disgrace the badge it wears. Any larger than 18 is a mistake in my book.

i've always wanted to fit 14s or 13s to my e34 because then i could put on those $17 geo metro 13 inch tires that you hear advertised about on the radio during tire sales. (i'm kidding abou the 13's, i'd like some 14s from an e28 or e30 though, both for cost and fuel economy).

Said in SLJ's voice (yelling),,,,,,,,,",,,YES, they deserved to die, and I hope they burn in hell."

To the guy wanting to put 20's on an e34: Sell the car to someone who will care about it, before you F**k it up, pimping it out like a rice rocket, and buy a honda, or a '67 Impala.
But,,if you dont mind chinking your rims everytime you go over a speed bump, and a never ending litany of suspension and steering problems,,and dont mind attracting nothing other than 'ghetto rats', to your ride,,,then by all means,,,put on the 20's. While your at it,,,put hydraulics on all 4 corners,,and bounce the poor e34 all around town. Paint it purple. Get a purple hat with feathers,,,,,then you'll really be stylin.
If you really want to pimp a ride,,,then get a honda,,,and sell the e34,,,you will fit 'in' better.

. . . i'd like some 14s from an e28 or e30 though, both for cost and fuel economy . . .
How much are 20" rims? $400 each? And how much are tires? another $400 if you are lucky. My wife's 'vette has 17" and 18" rims wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1s costing $300 and $400 each. They look great until I get the bill.

Now, it's obvious that you want to make you car look cool (with the body kit in your other thread and what not). My personal opinion is that body kits and rims look cool . . . but once you go down that road, you may not know when to stop. Case in point:

More seriously, you will never win the "coolest car around" award. Someone will *always* have a cooler car (newer, more expensive, whatever). If you must have a car with a body kit and rims, my suggestion would be to wait around until someone is selling one and buy it, because you will never get as much money out of those upgrades as you put in. Let someone else max out his credit and build your dream car. If you insist on upgrading your e34, put the $5000 you save on not buying rims, tires, and the body kit, into engine mods, car care, proper maintenance, interior mods, tinted windows, and cheap tires on 15" rims so you can have a good time driving your car like you stole it.

If you are driving a nice e34, you are going to get all the respect you need pulling up next to a blingy Acura.

New guy Weazman--I always support people's right to do whatever makes them happy with their car. I am sorry everyone is being so rude to you. I think you are pushing the envelope on mods for this board. We consider a tastefully modified e34 to be almost a religious experience. And there is a dogma here about what is tasteful. If you want to get a flavor of it check out the virtual car show winners (http://www.bimmer.info/forum/showthread.php?t=18205&highlight=virtual). There is probably not a lot in common with your taste here, but you are always welcome to ask technical questions. Don't let the razing scare you off.

I love Alpina wheels, but those are just too big. They don't fit the E34. The E38, E39, and the newer cars pull off bigger wheels much better.

This is a funny thread. Hehehehe. That 7er looks really weird with the offset so far out. (I won't comment on the design of the rims since taste is subjective...) Must handle like $#!+

I've seen 20" as well on an E34... doesn't look that impressive anymore since the sidewall of the tire will be sloping inward already right away... looks kinda funny to me.
