I need the schematic for the interior lights on a 1990 318iS.
I've got a short in the loom somewhere as the lights stay on in the door position.
I'm removing the old car alarm system (slowly) I think it may be part of the problem.

Your internal lights have a 3-way switch. 1 is on, 2 is off and 3 is door actuated (open door light goes on).
With my doors closed the light still goes on in position 3, ergo short circuit :(

First place I'd look is the door switches. One of them may be stuck closed.

Found it!

the interior light on the passengers side had been forced back in and crushed the wire into the frame.

Oh well, the car is a bit lighter now I've removed the old alarm.
