My 540 is now with it's new owner... he will be joining here in the near future.

My last drive in the 540 left me feeling sad... so smooth and fast, like a high performance rolling sofa!

The 330 is fun, but does not compare in any way with the e34.

The plan is to now find an M car in perfect shape. Could be an e34 M5, there are not many in my area of the east coast, but one will turn up eventually.
Maybe an M3, but the size and feel of the 5 is what I really want. It would be a track car also.

I would also take a "limited" Canadian 540i - (with some of the M parts stock)

I got more than my $6k asking price also, it was a fair deal for both of us, he is now experiencing "gear 4" and the perma-grin it leaves on your face!

Either way, I am not going anywhere! If you thought you would get rid of me after selling the 540, you were sadly mistaken!!!:p

this time I want something truly unique... a touring M would REALLY make me happy!

I need an M or something I can drive occasionnally for a rush.... the 330 does not fulfill my thrill desires!!!

Not to knock the e46... it is really nice, but NOT what you might expect, a little "regular".

Obviously, I have been spoiled with the 282 HP in the 540!

6,000.00 USD United States Dollars = 6,702.00 CAD Canada Dollars

I got $6750 Cdn, so only $48 more.:p

Then again, I just paid for the brand new battery, so actually, I guess I lost a bit after all.:(

I needed the 330 for safety features, and a regular auto 540 is not what I wanted.

I want a clutch.

Is a 540 more fuel efficient than an S38B38?

Hmmm... also am I right in thinking there never was an e34 (V8) M5? Did they just stop making M5s after '93 and then wait until they could release it as a V8 in the e39 body?

I know what I would be doing if I were you- I'd be looking for a Alpina B10 BiTurbo (globally) to love and cherish, for better or for worse... till death will you part! There's one in the UK that needs saving atm.

LOL. We had an original shelby cobra at the antique car dealership I used to work at. You could have bought it for only $450,000, but it sold last summer.

That cars maintenance records look like mine. Kinda scary now that I think about it.

Oh, and congratulations Shark. That guys got a deal of a lifetime. This 530 here was 7K USD without all the hard work put into it.

Congrats on the sale. You being in Canada, you have access to BMWs that we in the states do not, thanks to our wonderful importation laws. M5 tourings, Alpinas, 3.8 6 speeds with the Nurburgring suspension/brakes, it's not fair. There were recently several very nice Alpinas on Ebay in Canada, that would be pretty damn sweet.

or a kit that I would partially build of one of these...Yes, I love them too. Doesn't everyone. In Australia there are at least 2 companies making decent kits of them, viper and Snake... For a small market we have a lot of Cobra kits builders. Most are exported- thing is you can't park it anywhere. At least with an M5 one can do that more easily. :) Nick

They made the M540-sport, which was basicaly the regular 540 engine with an "M" suspension and interior, it had the same stats as the regular v8. These are very rare cars indeed, only a smal handful made it to the US market and rest went to Canada I think. I had a customer offer to sell me his a while back, but I couldn't afford it. Alpina made a 540i as well.

I believe the m5 was in production up until 95 with the bigger 6cyl. engine in the e34. Not sure what market these went to though.

After '93 the M5 went to a 3.8, 340 HP motor. '95 they got the 6 speed and wide front end. We got screwed here in the USA, at least there's a few grey market cars around.

I wanted to wait a year or two before investing again... but when the right opportunity arises, I will jump.....

Jon, that is one of the nicest rides around...
But too soon. I want to send my extra $ to pay down my mortgage before getting another!

I will drool over that M6 tough, what dreams are made of!
