Hey Guys, I appreciate you dealing with newbie questions. I just got my first Bimmer about a month ago and really want to update the wheels from the factory ones (remind me of snowflake wheels from an old Trans Am).

Anyway, are these the real thing, and will e39 wheels fit on our e34s?

I know we use a 20mm offset, but don't know the specs for an e39. Your help is greatly appreciated!

e39s generally fit with the use of a hubcentric ring ;)

I know this has been covered the forum, but E39 wheels will fit. you will need to get hubcentric rings, as the center bore in the E39 wheel is larger, and the wheel will not sit perfectley centered on the hub without them and will create "out of balance" problems. The rings fit in the center bore/hole of the rim. Tirerack sells them if you explain your situation.

Thanks guys. I do recall reading about the hub rings and specifically the topic about the problems encountered with the aluminum ones off ebay. So Tirerack can provide the better quality plastic/composite ones? Do you have to change these rings often, and/or do they wear out over time causing problems? I just don't want to open up a can of worms here over (potentially) a good price on wheels.

I have aluminum ones that i bought from the tire rack. They have been on the car now for 24k and I have had no problems yet. they typically stay in the wheel and are no big deal at all. I always warn the tire shop that they are there, and so far, so good. They were around $4 each.

Lemme ask you guys a question about rims.

Do they sell solid rims that are concave or flat? Rims are a pain to clean, so do they make something that has no visible brake dust and dirt wipes away from the exterior?

I know- concave teflon rims! Wouldn't that be exciting. No, really..

*chirp-chirp* Hello? *chirp-chirp* You guys still there?

The rims on my car are Borbet type H, they are the easiest rims to clean I have ever had on a BMW. Brake dust just wipes off. I just treplaced the black center caps (2 fell off) with roundels, looks alot better, need to update my sig pic. I think Tirerack has them for around $100 each. Mine were on the car when I bought it.
