hi- e39dream here, member of bimmerforums, bimmerfest, forum.bmw5.co.uk, and now bimmer.info. I was told this is the v12 headquarters so here I am. A little background- I have seen alot of nice older bimmers 4 sale lately and started looking at sevens. I want a 750 for a weekend car. I saw a 1992 that was nice I thought. what e would a 92 be? e32? Sorry for the dumb questions. Also the intake manifold- is that a 2 piece deal? What I mean is that in the pics I saw I noted 2 air filters, attached to what looked like 2 seperate intake maifolds. is that the case?

Yes, it is an E32. They were produced till end of March 1994. After that it is E38.
Intakes are 2 separate units. See the large explosion view of the engine on my website below. http://tridem.han-solo.net/auto/erich/v12.jpg
The gaskets for sealing will set you back about 500 US 4. In total there are 4 gaskets. If you want to know how to reseal them, go on my website to the page of Johan and Sean, there are detailed instructions.
Also look at my site on 'before buying", that is a good buying guide. Stay away from a car which has EDC shocks, they cost new more than the whole car is worth. Per shock around 1.000 US $.
But you can modify from EDC to normal shocks.
And the headoffice for E32 V12 M70 engines is here

For your info, in the U.K. there are 2 good E32 boards

Sometimes good to know, as they all have RHD cars and there are some special things to consider for replacement of the cabin filter etc.

thank you Shogun- the people who steered me here also told me to consult you for 750 info- thanks. They said you are known to have five of them on hand at any given time! That said, I assume these must be great vehicles. I'm not looking to buy right away, maybe at summers end. I saw one going for such an attractive price I think the upkeep wouldn't hurt so bad- I'm planning on doing the most of the maintenance so I will definately be around:) Also- the edc shocks aren't too scary to me- I am not afraid of fabrication work to retrofit regualr shocks if need be. I'm a pretty hands on guy. Thanks for the quick replies- I was up late dreaming of v12 bimmers again:)

Huhh, am I so famous now?
Yes, I have too many at the moment.
If you can do most of the work DIY, then no problem. Parts are available a lot now used and cheap. But the only concern might be the fuel consumption. I do not drive that much, so no problem and prices in Japan are still lower compared to Europe. If you can get a Highline, that would be very nice. Less than 5.000 have been built, and they were never exported to USA. Here a pic from my grey one, I have 2 of them

hmm. I was not able to find one for sale, I did see a highline article with some nice pictures however. I like the refridgerator and trays in the back, very nice. I think a good condition Highline would be well out of my range however. We'll see how the summer goes. It would be nice to have the best of the best though. Maybe I'll import one of yours if you ever are inclined to sell one:) Really what I was thinking was to find a 750 for around $3-5k USD and make a restoration project out of it. There is one somewhat locally with decent service records and the guy is asking $4k for it, with 150,000 miles however. I have the 528i e39 for daily use, as well as a ford 4x4 SUV for winter, the 750i would be the garage project and then the weekend car when finished. I could see the v12 using more fuel, but I don't mind. It will be like driving two 528i's at once!
