My A/C wasnt blowing cold,,,so, had it checked, and it was found to be empty,,,so, recharged it with R134 and UV dye. A week later, it had all leaked out. The UV light showed two obvious leaks on the condenser,,couldnt find any other obvious leak spots. Sh-t!
So now,,after being out 3 1/2 pounds of R134 at 40 bucks a pound,,Im going to have to replace the condenser.
My indy says it will be about 4 hrs labor, in order to get to the condenser,,,plus parts.
Anyone know of a source for A/C parts, or have an a/c system for sale?,,and is there anything else i should look at other than the condensor, or preventatively replace, while the front end is torn apart?
Trying to soften whats shaping up to be a 1k repair bill.

Thanks in advance--

Art.

I've got a known good used condensor from a 540iA (will fit most E34's).

Email or PM if interested.

Thanks!

Radiator un clips, open little access panel next to PS fog light, a couple twists with the wrenchs and pop in a new one with O rings, drier and more of r134 and uv dye for good luck.

The 4 hours in probably due to the evacuation and recharge time being added to his labor bill.

$40.00 a lb is crazy. $10.00 for a lb tin at the parts shop.

dude theres no easy way to say this but you are getting ****ed, a 30# keg of r134 goes for $156 at sams or a case of 12 12oz cans for $56 or 58 i can't remember, a couple hours plus suck time of about 45 minutes, you need a drier too with a major component change
