Looking to install a Grant steering wheel I purchased awhile back, originally for 88 Supra turbo. Can I bypass the airbag, so I don't get any service codes? Thanks.....Derek.......Also tell me what you think about the wheel

It's alright, it just looks a tad Uncle Ben's with the red inserts.

While you have the wheel off, pull the cluster and remove the SRS bulb.

You've just by passed the air bag SRS light

The quick and dirty method is to simply remove the air bag bulb from the cluster. Im not sure there is a way to by pass the bad though, the srs control looks for a self test pass from the bag module before it turns off the light. You would have to fool the srs module into thinking it either has a bag hooked up, or its not supposed to have a left hand bag.

I spose you could always reroute the wires into the trunk and mount the bag aganst the back seat, that way your mother in law would have an air bag too.

Thanks Blitz. Thought it might send a message to the display.

This way, if for some reason you wake up one morning and have a strong desire to put a nice leather BMW wheel back on and air bag.

It's just a bulb and a trip to the dealer for the reset and you back to normal.

Oh' store the air bag in a safe static free place. They can be dangerous if accidentally deployed

I spent close to $200 for the wheel and kit. Maybe I'll sell it and get a 3 point.
