"and need I mention how many real M5 drivers told me how they wished they could have found this EXCEPTIONAL 540 first! "

Looks pretty good, aside from the rear bumper. There are a lot of things wrong with the description though. The owner definitely doesn't know a thing about the car. Anyone know about the fitment of those "M5 wheels?" Are the wheels from the M coupe/roady an easy fit?

If only I lived in Canada, and had a spare 11k. *sigh*

I'm so glad I found my 540 before I found an M5. (smirk)

Snowy March in Ontario.
Some Advertising and Marketing Humor from the ad:

" From an economist viewpoint, the complete Racing Dynamics package, one-year-new blue repaint, are easily $5K+ worth, the M5 rims/tires are another $1K, no man of logic would let this deal of a lifetime slip so I grabbed it!"

I called my economist and he depreciated the paint, wheels, and spoilers 54% based on a purchase price of $6K, inflation rate of 3%, unemployment rate of 6%, and a 5% average rise in GDP, and a strong hunch that pork belly futures would drop sharply in the very near future. That drops the car's price to $6995 plus taxes, tags, and freight. Latinate Visual Art not included.

"To me and my wife, this Bimmer is certainly a potent and comfortable ride, better-looking than just another BMW, still we don't find in it the kind of driving thrill, Latinate visual art, and above all PASSIONS exclusive to our less powerful Alfas"

In other words, buy this boring BMW. DOH!

then:

"[My BMW] is one of the rarest works of art"

Dude, where's my rare work of art... oh that's right. I sold it on eBay"

Also:
"I bought a set of 3 used badges from UK"

Free used badges! I'm bidding RIGHT NOW

Above post is meant to be humorous. The car is gorgeous and has low miles but the ad says little or nothing about the mechanical aspect or maintenance records.

Need spacers for the front, rears are direct.

What a crappy ad! Guy bought it in December of 2005, so he's had it for roughly 4-5 months. Smells fishy!
M-blue paint?!?

BTW you should always detail the engine before you sell a car. It makes people think you care about it.

[humour/chuckling on]

1. The front end is up so high it would give you a nosebleed. Either that or it was the first year of the 540ix... :p

2. It doesn't have the nice 12-way seats that my 540/6 has.

3. My CAN-spec 540/6 has the same high pressure headlight/fog washer (heated, BTW...he didn't mention that) as his "special M5/M540i" car.

4. Blech! That rear valance looks bad, IMO...

6. What "6-speed auto" is out there? Is this not just a regular ZF 5HP30?

Aside from the write-up details and the lower rear valence, not a bad ride...$11k CAD is not bad for a car with 160,000-ish km's (~100k mi)

$9k US for THAT? For starters, the ad reeks of BS, and there's no mention of records or mechanical condition. He mis-represented countless things, and the body kit is fugly. I saw a 540 M-Sport auto go for $12k, so I don't think a regular 540 auto is worth $9k. Hell, I'd sell my 540/6 for that.

Upgraded to a 6-speed automatic transmission? WTF?

Matt, tell you you mean selling your 540/6 for the M Sport, right? :D

Nah, I wouldn't want the auto. I meant I'd sell my 540/6 for $9k. Maybe, depends if it's pissed me off that day.

DOH! Seen, Matt...missed the auto bit on the M-Sport you mentioned. Since my left knee hasn't given out yet, I still maintain that a sporty car must have a manual transmission!!!
