Do you think this guy is just selling that PDF scan that was floating around a while ago?
If so, how sleazy is that?

I'd actually like a pdf of that manual. If Bentley had the pdf of it for download, I would buy it. I don't really want a scanned pdf on CD from the UK though. Makes me a bit wary, and of course it's illegal.

i'd report it to ebay if I knew it wasnt one of out friends from this forum...:D

I am no legal expert, but if you have purchased a printed copy of the manual, and if you don't sell or distribute anything from the PDF, I don't think there is anything wrong with having a scanned copy for your personal use.

In this case, since Bentley does not sell a PDF copy (please correct me if I am wrong), this is clearly illegal.

I think this has been discussed before (probably many times).

his other username cschollum has been back this week too...
should we report this guy to ebay?
I have a pdf copy but I would not try to profit from it, especially since we got the pdf for free!

I say we bust this guy like we did Taco and his rip off ebay cars!

ukm5 was a piece of work, but Taco provided some great fun when we busted him!

I would be happy to bust this clown too, someone send me a link to report it and it'll be done!! I will pretend it is UKM5 and I will feel great about reporting him!

That's everything he had for sale. It looks like he is pirating (pie-ratting) the TIS CD's too.

I like this line:
"This is by far the best book you can get for the E34 without stealing one from your local dealer"

SharkmanBMW

seriously, let's nail him!
we could use the action.... how do you report a bad item? they changed the ebay site and I can't find the link!

It might be best just to send a note to Bentley's customer service and let them go after this guy.

I sent some feedback to Bentley's. They have a form with one of the dropdown choices "Report possible copyright violation." It's not as dramatic as nailing him, but it's a start.

his feedback has one guy stating he was committing fraud and was reported to the police!

He obviously did not get stopped!
we like to play with people when they try to scam -
this is a guy who was totally scamming, mileage fraud, lies...
there are more threads that lead up to this, but I can't find them!

Just about every item this guy has sold is a fake manual or a TIS. Why has nobody caught on?

I guess we all have different levels of rightness. Mine is it's okay for your own use, but when you copy it to resell it you're wrong. The guy has been reported to ebay. Let's see what happens.

I don't like criminals (hell, deep down, they don't even like themselves). But I think you guys may be jumping to conclusions. At bimmerzone.com there is a CD version of the Bentley manual available, as well as a printed one. Furthermore, the claim that this person had sold faudulent goods was placed by an ebay member who had only 7 feedbacks (2 of which from the bentley manual guy), and this complainant is also no longer a member of ebay. Those are, in my eyes, just as (if not more) suspicious.

That was awesome, especially since he got his account cancelled (twice), but too bad someone poor girl actually bought that car.

You ever search for cars in Ft. Lauderdale that look similar to the taco guys auction? Seems he was selling wrecked cars and repainting them. Probably easy to find, just look for old cars in Ft. Lauderdale with new paint!

I looked at Bimmerzone.com and I didn't see a CD for the E34. Am I missing something? Bentleypublishers.com doesn't have one for sale either.
This guy is selling these for $7. Either he/she is some kind of BMW enthusiasts' philanthropist, or this is crooked.

I am interested to hear back from Bentley--they are the ones whose copyright is (very possibly) violated.

http://www.bimmerzone.com/BMW_Repair_manual_CD.htm No need to thank - this proves that there are Bentley CDs, yet not for the E34. I think you are correct in waiting to hear from Bentley, because one never can be shure without all the facts.

And if he is ripping people (and Bentley off), he's gonna get knicked (and then it's off to Sunhill, sunshine).

You can easily find the Bentley pdf free for download anyways, why should this dick make $$$ on it???

Yes, I saw the ones for the 3 Series cars. My point is that this guy is specifically selling PDF copies of the E34 manual, which probably does not exist (legally).

The people buying this item obviously don't know about this great forum, and the fact that they can violate copyright law for free.

They all get their just desserts eventually anyway. One never knows, perhaps this is the only way he can get attention due to his acute physical and social retardation?

I bought the book and have seen that pdf. It's awful. It's a poorly done photographic scan of the pages, so there's no indexing, no easy paging, no search, and no easy ability to copy/paste text and pictures in editable form. I hope Bentley Publishing is able to shut them down.
