I have been contemplating getting one of these systems rather than an E.A.T chip. Has anyone used one? What would installation involve?

I would check to see if they can also give you the wiring diagrams. Was your car previously fitted with an alarm/remote?

install is really easy.. you just tap into a couple wires and you're done. mine took 10 minutes. only thing to really be concerned about is that you don't fxck up the locks with the deadbolts. more info on it on bmwe34.net

I dont have the "BMW System" as it is now, but the ebay ad says that this particular kit only works with car that do not have the BMW system.

what that means is you will ahve to get behind the driver-side woofer and tap into the wires there.. sounds like a simple "lock/unlock" system in which case all you need to do is connect your power, ground, 'lock' pulse, and 'unlock' pulse wires

however looking at the little remotes it appears that they have more functionality than just that. ask scotth i think he did some fancy stuff with his

Wow, that kit looks awesome! I might be interested in that myself.

Keep us posted. I want one too! :)

I installed one of their systems as a replacement to my factory alarm in my 94 540i - works great. The installation took only about 10 minutes and their instructions/diagram is very easy to follow..

The site says:

Remote Auxiliary Output - for trunk release module, window roll up module or other accessories.

Does that mean that the ability to open the trunk does not come as standard?

It's a scam, I learnt the hard way. I bought it, it doesn't work and I they don't answer their emails.

I seriously doubt its a scam. The seller has 99.8% positive feedback. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-E34-M5-KEYLESS-ENTRY-89-91_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33723QQitemZ80485809 52QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

No it comes with a control box - and includes an alarm. Apparently they aren't all too bad, if you can live with the made in China sticker.

Anybody actually installed one of these kits?

I think I'm gonna go for it, but a testimonial would be nice :)

If you don't mind waiting a couple of weeks. Will order one soon and attempt to install it and do a post up for it. Was going to get a pro one installed, but just spent that money on new brake discs. My front left disc is at 19.8mm. Danger Will Robinson, DANGER!

Funny how the kit for pre-wired cars is more expensive than the all-in-one kit.

My mistake was that I bought it from their website and not eBay so I have no recourse now. Again, it din't work, they don't respond to emails and you don't get your money back.

My car is 95 540i and based on their initial response (they answered initially to tell me that I must have something else connected to connected to that port) they don't what what they are talking about at least as far 540i is concerned. You might have more luck with a different model if you want to try.

Okay, so this system can unlock the trunk, but can it open it?

If not, what would be needed to make that work? There's mention in the ad of a "trunk release module".

Just got back from my amazing journey under the back seat and lo and behold, I found the aftermarket BMW alarm box (#82119401487). Sorry to dissapoint you all who were looking forward to a writeup in regards to the cheap keyless entry system, but I'm gonna try and get this one to work first. If I am correct, all I need is an original remote and some time. BUT if the stock system is FUBAR, I will still go the originally planned route with a cheap system from Rhino.
