I have a 1995 BMW 525i and when I bought it used it did not come with the remote for keyless entry. I would like to install a keyless entry/remote start on it and was wondering if anyone knows if something like This (http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Long-Range-FM-Car-Alarm-Remote-Start-Keyless-Entry_W0QQitemZ9706146158QQcategoryZ48611QQrdZ1QQc mdZViewItem) will work and not give me too much trouble installing.

Thanks x a million.

Personally i would go with the ones for $130 on ebay... search for those - They come with flip keys that have built in buttons and stuff... They are really cool

I am still considering the remote start and keyless entry... Hmmm oneday when all the other issues are fixed!!

You'll totally have to get an auto-sparky to set it up so that the headlights (or atleast parks and front fogs) come on when you remote-start it!! That was the intention with mine :)

Mine is at the indy getting one installed as we speak. They said they have a lot of trouble with the ones that are not bmw like those by clifford or viper.

But it is also hard to get one of the OEM remotes as they have dropped off the parts list. To get it they had to go through old parts catalogues to get the number and there are not many of them left...and they are obscenely expensive.:(

I have no first hand experience, I am only reporting what the indy told me. And they probably only see the problem ones, not the ones that work ok.

I was looking at getting one of these (sorry I can't find an english description). It's a cheap alarm, but also has a flip key and can be ordered with wiring for an E34.
