Hey Guys,
Planning a major project with e34s. Im from New Zealand.

Okay heres what i got, I have a rolled 530i '93 with leather, 18" mags and a really good running v8 in it. And i have acess to a manual '89 525i with an minor overheating problem and a '89 525i with a automatic gear box which has blown.

My plan was to transfer all the good parts, e.g. leather, mags, and v8 into one of the 525i's. Big Job I know but i think it can be done. What would be your opinions on what to do. Ideally i would like a manual car.

Some other questions,

Does the 525i manual box fit onto the 530i?

Powerwise m20 vs m60 for all the effort of changing the engine over is it worth it?

Are there any major hurdles you can see im going to run into?

Thanks,
Brad

you would prolly have to swap just about every thing in the engine bay,and wether or not the m60 would hook up to the m20 instruments ,you may even have to swap some of that over as well...you also post on Bimmersport?

M20 v M60
Power: M20=125kw/170bhp@5800/222nm@4300
M60=approx155kw???/218bhp@5800/209lb ft/290nm???@4000
(M20 specs for euro cars data from owner's handbook. M60 specs also for euro taken from enthusiast book. kw & nm for M60 are guesses)

Shite load of difference. Worth doing? Seems like a lot of work and expense for a 'bitsa' car which will suffer come sale time. You'd be better of spending $10k on a decent 535i and be done with it.
