intake for recirculating air?

Does anybody know where intake for the hvac is on the interior of the car- for recirculating the air.

I always thought it picked the air off of the floor, but after my study of the heater box and its functions, I have no clue. I do recall there being two runners that feed the blower when the recirc flaps are closed. Where they come from...is something I never thought to determine.

I do not think it is on both sides, only drivers side in the footwell,
below the covering, there is a small screen right of the speaker cover.
