Radio problem

Hello All,
My e34 factory radio works but the level is way low. If I crank it to the max the level is low and distorted. The fuses appear fine. Is there an amp in the car somewhere for this unit? Any help would be awsome. Thanks in advance. Pi.

Check under the rear seat, same location as the battery.

if youhave a std amp it will be in the "trunk" on the lhs,looking at the rear of the car behind the trim there
