What is this piece of metal, and where can i buy one? It resembles a straight piece of pressed steel with holes at either end. I think its around 8'' long.

Probably a junk yard would be the best bet. Our cars only have one, BTW, I believe it reduces side to side motion like a "panhard rod" on some cars.

Is yours missing? I'd bet people throw those away when parting cars so you should be able to get it cheap if you find the right source. Try Rigmaster or Lowell or Winfred.

Mine is bent, maybe someone on the board will have one to offer me. I just wish i knew what it was called though.

It's called a "diagonal support arm" at page 330-10 in the Bentley.
