does anyone know anyone besides BMW that sells getrag and ZF gearbox components, I'm mainly talking bearings and synchros. and somewhere to find a service manual for these gearboxes. perferably someone not who will deal internationally.

YesI'm sure you can also get parts from ZF Australia, (http://www.zf.com.au) they are in Arndell Park. :) Nick

EDIT, no ZF are nothing to do with Getrag... they just own everything else.. .:D

Looks like Getrag (http://www.en.getrag.de) are actually in bed with Ford and DANA. DANA now own the old BorgWarner factories in Australia (http://www.spiceraxle.com.au/), which had later become known as BTR Engineering. Incestuous industry really, + carnivourous (http://www.delphi.com) too..

do they? i thought GM owned getrag, oh well i'll take your word for it :p actually i might see if GM Baden (liebherr cranes agent) has contacts in ZF.... since the use ZF's boxes and their agent in australia has an office in ardnell park as well......... its amazing what spending 5 million dollars does to your business relationship ;)

I am interested to know where you are getting Getrag parts ... as far as I found when having mine rebuilt ... BMW would not sell Getrag parts and the same for the final drive. It was either new or rebuilt units.

yeah i've heard all kind of random bs about getrag 260s, such as "it can't be rebuilt" i doubt that highly, only reason i can think of it that there is a 15 ton pull needed to get the 5th gear off......... well thats not really a problem, where i work has a 100 ton press :D oh yeah and reputely its a bastard to get the case off.........

hopefully this guy in GM Baden will be able to give us some contacts they use for sourcing their ZF parts. I just shot him an email about something else and i popped that question in.
