Seemed like a good idea but fell off. Anyways I'm in class and my prof isnt here yet, so he gets the FTL vote of the day. When (if) he shows up we're gonna be talking about the Ontological argument for the existence of God. hooray.

Coke zero sucks.

Hooray for OT

American citizens fall into two groups:

Those that have been tasered, and those that will be tasered.

/less lethal, bitchez.

this is from fark.com. the thread is not about tazers being controvertial, and the comment is quite funny in context.

Ontological argument hu. Good luck understanding it. What class is that anyway.

intro to philosophy.... it's really not bad, mainly due to the fact that i've read all the stuff already. its just pretty boring (read: kids in class are morons and don't read, therefore teacher asks question and its dead ass quiet. ugh)

****, I hated that stuff: spending hours and hours going around in circles to prove the existence of something for which there is no evidence. Ontology and epistemology are mental masturbation, and about as productive. That's just my opinion, of course. But it's stuff like that that made me switch from philosophy to political theory. Political theory = Philosophy with all the useless ******** removed.

Immanuel Kant was a real pissant who was very rarely stable,
Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy beggar who could think you under the table,
David Hume could out-consume Schopenhauer and Hegel,
And Wittgenstein was a beery swine who was just as schloshed as Schlegel.
There's nothing Nietzsche couldn't teach ya 'bout the turning of the wrist,
Socrates himself was permanently pissed...
John Stuart Mill, of his own free will, with half a pint of shandy was
particularly ill,
Plato, they say, could stick it away, half a crate of whiskey every day,
Aristotle, Aristotle was a beggar for the bottle,
Hobbes was fond of his dram,
And Rene Descartes was a drunken fart, "I drink therefore I am."
Yes, Socrates himself is particularly missed;
A lovely little thinker but a bugger when he's pissed.

WTF is gruyere cheese?

scott540
03-29-2006, 06:51 PM
mmm. I like gruyere. I got a philosophy minor. Along with my majors in history and german, that makes me very marketable. At least that's what the people in the college office said after they took my tuition. I think they used the term "well rounded". At least I can read the parts names for my car.

i'm really not trying to keep this thread alive, but

i have this song, done by a country group called the gourds, on my car stereo right now. its so novel....they've taken the 3.30 minute song and changed the tempos and added guitar (sp) breaks, it comes out to 5 or 6 minutes. its just amusing to hear this country band sing "i got a pocket full of rubbers, and my homeboys do too." they posted the mp3 on their website (which is broken right now), so i don't have any problem posting a link to the mp3 from elsewhere. click on "open in new window" on the "download now" link on this page. disclaimer: i don't have speakers on this computer, so i'm not entirely sure this is the same thing. if you open it up, and hear a country band singing "gin and juice", it's the right thing. if not, well, it couldn't be helped.

http://www.mp3fusion.net/mp3_download/7935467/Gourds_Gin_And_Juice_mp3.html

i switched to my radio station of choice, when i hear this kinda country song come up. i sat there, wracking my brain, thinking "i know this damn song, i just can't put my finger on it" until i heard them sing the chorus. its reeeal cute if you could stomach the original. i also like richard cheese. his lounge covers of songs like "fight for your right" by the beastie boys are generally well done, and i get just as much entertainment out of listening to the "fresh" cover as i do listening to the radio.

its an OT thread full of non sequitirs (sp) and what people want to eat for lunch, in either case, it isn't a very productive use of work time. no pictures were posted. imma assume that you are addressing me.

no ryan, i was actually thinking of posting a few random things, but decided to use what little better judgement i have. anyways, that Gin n Juice remake has been done by a few people, I used to have a few versions... Tim McGraw, Phish, and DMB versions...
