About 5K miles ago I replaced the front pads, rotors, and sensor. Got the dreaded brake lining message in the OBC today and pulled the wheel to find the inner pad worn to the point of replacement and the outer pad looks brand new. Braking performance never seemed to suffer so I'm unsure why this would happen. I'll order new pads tomorrow, but don't want to replace them every 5K. Does anyone know why the pads would wear unevenly?

Thanks for your help.

Stuck piston or a really rough side of rotor...

It could also be that the caliper is not sliding or is stuck on its pins. Make sure that the pins that hold the caliper to the carrier are lubed well.

Caliper isn't sliding...the piston is working fine.

Do what Brandon said...pull the caliper, make sure the guide pins and holes are clear of any crud. You can pick up little tubes of grease for those pins IIRC.

Since you replaced the pads & rotors I think you pretty much eliminated any other variables.
