What is O2 sensor control error

I replaced both O2 sensors 2 days ago but am still getting 2 errors: 1) O2 sensor control error 2) O2 sensor error error - this I think is caused by #1

model and year would be handy info. the control circuit if I remember right is the heated element. You probably have a blow O2 fuse. Does any one need to be reminded that the code is for the circuit not the part? Only obdII cars have the ability to diagnose parts and even that is sketchy.

A bit more detail would be nice I guess. The car is 95 540i with about 98k miles. Both sensors were replaced this week. They were not old, one had only about 15K miles on it the other maybe 25-30K miles. So this would suggest an underlying problem causing the sensors to go bad.

All engine gaskets were changed last summer. The idle is good even with the check engine on. I am sure both cats are shot and have been for a few years. Can the bad cats cause O2 sensor errors/problems?
