I just bought new clear corner lights for my 1995 525i (E34). Wanted to know the step by step process b/c i have no clue on how to do it.

This is a really simple mod. The light has two screws that are easy to reach and one screw that is a little tough.

Grab a flashlight and take a long look... locate the two easy screws on the back of the light.

The third screw will be three or four inches towards the rear of the engine bay... look for it

take your clear corners that you just bought, hold them up in the position that they will be put in, and you will be able to see the reference points for the screws (3). then you can easily find them when you go for the swap.

and check this (http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=HD23&mospid=47408&btnr=63_0161&hg=63&fg=10) out

jesus thats dark, can you drive it at nights? when I was valeting over the summer I parked this guy's brand new 760, the I couldnt see out the windows to park the damn thing. not to mention that confusing i-drive mess....

anyways nice ride. after the clears... shadowline, lower it, and style 5's :D

One thing to be careful with. When you take out the old ones there will be some square plastic nuts that clip into the light. You need to take those out by pinching the tabs on the back side and then put them into the new light. I missed this step the first times and put the lights in and then couldn't figure out why the screws wouldn't start.

My 540 was actually a lot easier than my 525 since the airbox is on the passenger side.

yeah it's a little tough at night trying to back up, but other than that it's fine.
By the way what do you mean by "shadowline, lower it, and style 5's"

shadowline is blacking out the chrome trim around the windows. lower it is, well, upgraded suspension, shocks and springs. it essentially lowers the car about an inch in the front and 1.3" in the rear. eliminates the gap between wheel and fender. and style 5's are the sexiest wheels, esp on cars your color. they look like this

Numbers are backwards, 1.3" front 1" rear.

Oh and Calico, if that is your signature picture you need to resize it a wee little bit :D

one screw is against the fender wall... about three or four inches away from the light... towards the engine firewall

that's probably the one you're having trboule finding... no?

The other 2 go into the headlight assembly pointing towards the front of the car and are above each other.

Best thing to do is get a shop light down in there so you can see and use your new light for reference.

ok, also the bulb that came in the package doest fit in securely with the stock harness. the bulbs look different from the bottom for example the stock one looks like this on the bottom

The one that came in the pack looks like this:

notice on the bottom that one set has two little slits while the other just has one slit. What type bulb should i get.

YOu have to use the bulb that looks like the one you removed... go buy new ones, if necessary.

Some people use clear bulbs with clear corners even though it's not street legal. It's a matter of taste...

it's not street legal? why? Do cops usually prosecute becasue of them?

Evan

lol. i have blue bulbs in my corners right now. your signals are supposed to be red or amber. but depending you wont get hassled. you have a better chance of getting in trouble cause of your tint being too dark....

as for the bulbs, you need the ones with two "slits" i guess you would say, or bumps on the bottom, theyre the connection points one for the turn signal one for the parking lights, if you put in the bulbs with only one connection point it will activate both connection points and be a small pain in the ass. lol at the severe penalty. well ill probably get the correct ones. im seriously thinking about giving up because the srews are way too hard to get to. especially on the drivers side. Is it another way of removing the old ones? is removing the grill an easier way or just more problems.

the screws seem eally hard to get to... don't give up.. just take a break.. continue tomorrow etc... lose the ugly orange corners!
