Switching Auto trans to Manual trans

I can get a Manual transmission for my 1990 bmw 535i which is automatic can i put a manual trans in it? What do i have to do, to do that?:D

You need a LOT to do a swap. Thers a long list of things to acquire - among them are new clutch, flywheel, clutch hydrauics, pedals, gear shift lever, transmission itself, LSD (if yours is a non-LSD - recommended but not exactly necessary), ECU, possibly driveshaft, and a few more things.

I'm in the process of doing such a swap. It's a big job, but I have a lot of help.

Long story short: it requires a fair amount of money (~$3k, including labor -- not including some money you can get back from selling your old transmission), a lot of time to locate all the parts (you don't want to buy them all new!), and a couple of days to do the work.
