Had a 525tdse been available when I started looking for an E34 I would have snapped it up. There are times where gassing up a 540i hit the pocket...not today though...just back from 7 months in Afghanistan and just marvelling at the slingshot acceleration of The Beast...I've been driving armoured Land Cruisers for the last half year...pick up on the non-turbo'd LC's was less than stellar at the 6000' alt of Kabul...
