What will happen if I disconnect the battery while the engine is running? Will the engine shut down or continue running?

It will shut down. Atleast mine did when my battery terminals were loose

Mine also shuts down if I disconnect the battery. I currently have a problem with my battery, it got drained. There is a seperate thread on that. I was thinking if my alternator was faulty.
You see the russian made cars engines continue running even after you disconnect the battery.

NEVER disconnect the battery when engine is running. In worst case you can have heavy damage to your electronic systems.

that's a bad thing to do to a computer controled car, with nothing for the alternator to push against and regulate itself by you get a massive power surge when you dissconnect the battery, yes the car may stay running but you can fry some stuff too

Really *REALLY* bad idea.

Google battery & alternator & "load dump"
