Aww, the day I bought my car, about 3 years ago. Notice the nasty unpaved driveway. My car was constantly dirty, and the garage was occupied by my mother's so very well kept (not) Accord.

Annnd, a littly bit more recently, now has a spot on the side of the garage which is now paved. Hangs out with my dad's poorly maintained Passat VR6 wagon.

I dont have an outside pic of my garage as yet, its not very exciting really , but I took a quick pic using it as my service bay the other day lol
Its really tight, luckily Im in shape so I can get past the side of the car to get out. I also have to put the front bumper against the back wall to get it far enough in :D

Technically the wagon stays outside while the wife's 330Ci and the E34 M5 keep the garage, but in this case.....
My cars also seems to live at Dave R's garage since I'm always doing work on them. I have to take the M30 apart, but I'm doing this work in my garage....

nothing broke, he forgot the compression rings on 1 piston...
Again?! What'd you break this time? :)

Cylinder #1 180psi 4%
Cylinder #2 180psi 8%
Cylinder #3 175psi 46%-25% (tried 5 times and the best result was 25%)
Cylinder #4 180psi 4%
Cylinder #5 185psi 4%
Cylinder #6 180psi 6%
Also what I thought was oil left over from the rebuild floating to the top of the expansion tank turned out to be a bigger deal than I thought.....
Link to pics (http://www.hersted.org/Engine%20Problems/)
The ONLY thing that prompted me to get a comp/leakdown test was the fact that I was using 1qt of oil every 500 miles and that my Blackstone Lab report said my chromium content was high even for a rebuild with new rings....
I am really busy at work right now but am trying to squeeze enough time in to remove the head and check cyl #3 and the headgasket.....
Again?! What'd you break this time? :)

Scott, I had no idea.
I thought I had it bad with having to replace a bent crankshaft after completing a rebuild. Then again, maybe I do have it bad?? Please let us know what you find in and around #3, I'm very interested.
Aside: your pic of the garage indicates you do a few miles on the road bike. Do any racing? In my former life i spent a bit of time in the midwest (Milwakee, Madison, Chicago) racing some pro/am events.
Anyhow, good luck diagnosing the problem.

busy monitoring the problem over the last few weeks and just got the comp/leakdown test done last Thursday. Needless to say I'm trying to find bits and pieces of free to time get the head off.....hopefully this weekend. Thanks for the well-wishes....it sounds like you are buttoning up your project finally!!!
I used to ride single track club cycling with the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana when I went to school. That is actually an M900 mountain frame. Their old mountain geometries are very nice for road purposes. I used to join the road guys on their free rides and kept up with many. I don't ride as much as I used to and my mind and body sorely miss it.
Scott, I had no idea.

The cleanliness of that motor makes me want to pull mine out just so I can bead blast it. I do plan on pulling the intake soon and will get it done. The valve cover is already done, but I didn't clear coat it. Want to pull both off at the same time and clear coat them. Then if I do the thermostat housing and oil canister, I'll almost be there. Sorry to hear about the problems.
Drew Z...where did you get all those BMW posters....My garage could use some dressing up. I will take some pics tonight and post them.

Here's Mine:
Bloody huge place that hosts the E34, my sister's Subaru, and my Corolla Panelvan (the other car in the pic).
Roofs a little low to perform any mechanical stuff... and its a rental.

Kinda shitty pics, but here's a few. I hope to replace my Mom's Qx4 with an e24 6 series in the next few weeks, but I don't think she would feel too happy about that lol.
