OT: ::.. A plug for TireRack

Ordered set of four tires two days ago and shipped the 'cheapest' method to Canada (UPS @ $76). They get things done QUICK! My only peeve is that the tires weren't bagged, but merely strapped two to a bundle.

I'll get the tires mounted and balanced today, but must hold back to install because I'm waiting for the lock bolts from BMA :)

You can calculate. The General UHPs were $76USD a piece... shipping was $72.48USD. Import dinged me for $131CAD. The UPS "brokerage" fee comprised ~$50CAD of that fee !!

Tires: $352 CAD
Shipping: $84 CAD
Import: $131 CAD
Mount/Tape Weights: $40 CAD

Total: $607 CAD

Or $151 CAD each tire. If you order alloys and tires from TireRack, they'll Hunter balance for free.

Wow, I've never ordered from Tire Rack because I figured that customs and duty would un-do any savings. Maybe you've proved me wrong? What did customs bill you?

I love TireRack ... I usually get tires the next day when I order -- and that's with the cheapest shipping method like you said.

I have ordered tires from both TireRack and Discounttiresdirect.com. I received very quick and professional service from both companies. However, while Tirerack's prices seemed to be slightly lower, DTD offers free shipping and I saved about $35 overall by using them for my last tire purchase.

Tirerack does have an awesome website though, tons of customer reviews and comparisons for most tires.

Thanks for that breakdown. I guess it does make sense if you're buying a whole set.

I assume you ordered 17" tires. I guess that'd run you close to $1000 locally, eh? That's about what I paid for my set of 17" Falkens.

I got my wheels and tires from TR, the free RF balance saved me $80. TR was fine, but UPS sent me 3 of my wheels, and the 4th to Kansas City. That was torture, looking at my three beautiful new wheels shod with new tires, and knowing I had to wait until the next day for the 4th. Qube, make sure you post a review of those tires when you get them on, as well as after a few thousand miles. Those are a real bargain.
