Just thought I'd post that I bought a set at Pep Boys, and they work great. Seems like they were Trico branded. First set that actually fits the curve of the windshield on the passenger side, all of the regular ones I've had fit horribly when parked. They were a bit pricey, little over $30, but well worth it. This is on a '95 540, so it may not apply to all years of E34.

There was some discussion a while back on whether or not those would fit on ALL E34s, or just some. Something to do with the reverse hinge on early E34s or something like that.

Anybody figure that out?

I bought some trico hingeless wipers for my car and they did not work. The backwards hinge thingy wont allow them to work.

Well there ya go. Bummer.

So obviously at some point the E34's wipers changed, and the later ones can accomodate these new-fangled wipers while the old ones can't.

So the question: can older E34s be retrofitted with the newer's wipers?

Can anyone say for sure? Has anybody retrofitted the newer wiper? Anybody want to volunteer to be a guinea pig?

What part, exactly, is different? The wiper arm?

What part, exactly, is different? The wiper arm?Only thing that's different is the drivers side wiper arm and that changed in 09/1990. Part number for the passenger side remained the same.

I wonder why they changed it. Maybe I'll stop by the dealer and price one.

>60 dollars ... I'd be glad to do the conversion, but at that price ... I think I'm staying with what I got.

You just need the driver's side arm from a newer one. I just changed mine a few days ago and it took about 2 minutes. I got a used arm from a 94 530.
It cost me $30. I haven't really got to test out the hingeless wipers yet because it hasn't rained much lately. Jay I was going to post this because I remember you wondering if it could be easily changed and it was. Ask the dealer if they can get you a used one, they usually have a good source for used parts.

Many thanks, Shanek. I'll do that. :)

I tried to buy the Bosch Icon for my 1990 535 last weekend and they said they didn't make them for my car. I just bought Trico blade refills and saved a bunch of money since you can't get the drivers side wiper anywhere that I've found but the dealer.
