I have a 525 (1991) no vanos. In the morning it is a son of a B**** to start when cold, after it s warm it will start NO problem. I have new plugs, coils, fuel pump, Wha the heck do I do now I look forward to any help possible.
btw I used the search but no straight for sure answers

Autozone battery is good. Measure the battery voltage when engine is off... should be 12.5V or so... Also measure the voltage when engine is running... ideal is 14.4V.

All I noticed after going from Shell Helix Plus 10w40 to Mobil1 0w40 is increased oil consumption and reduced valve clatter on cold starts (even a bit when fully warmed up). It didn't seem to affect my crank times hot or cold.
