So this dreaded check engine light came on today while I was moving my car from one parking spot to the next ( 6 car lengths). After parking, and idling for about 2 minutes, the check engine light came on. I don't know WHAT would be wrong with it! Had the motor replaced in September, 02 sensors, repaired vacuum leak 3 weeks later, replaced radiator... What else could be the problem?!

well keep trying, it takes practice to get it to work, be happy you can even do a stomp test. I have to buy a peake tool to pull codes

the 89 or the 95?

if it's the 89, it may not be avail

if it's the 95, the test can be very picky in the way you go about things. Sometimes it takes SEVERAL tries to trigger it.

With the test, must the 5 depressions begin once the car is in the on position, or can it be throughout the time it remains in the on position? Will a OBC warning message, such as Brake Linings, affect this process?

Oooo...
Will a OBC warning message, such as Brake Linings, affect this process? That could be a broblem, when I do the stomp i dont release the peddle completely as the switch that needs to be depressed is at the bottom of travel.

Im guessing Intake leaks.

I tried that as well... Does this not work with some e34's?

Still nothing... I wrestled with that accelerator, stomping the heck out of it... and nothing happened but the continuous stare of the Check Engine Light... :( However, after driving this morning, the check engine light faded away.... I will keep posted on any updates

I will keep posted on any updates You have to start the stomp test immediately after you turn the ignition on. 5 smooth, quik depressions of the accelerator to the floor. You have 5 seconds to do them....
